The Increase in Cosmetic Surgery
May 12, 2008 by Editor · 3 Comments
The increase in cosmetic and plastic surgery that have been taking place over the last few years is astounding.
There are a number of reasons why plastic surgery procedures may be increasing. These include:
- Society in general has become more accepting of people who undergo cosmetic changes.
- There has been a large increase in the number of TV shows about cosmetic procedures.
- The importance of physical appearance is being emphasized in our every day lives.
- Cosmetic surgery is sold as lifestyle choice versus a medical procedure
- Celebrities are hounded by a continual media frenzy over who got what procedure.
- There is more evidence than ever before that better looking people get significantly more positive attention in many aspects of their lives.
- The cost of cosmetic surgery in general has come down.
- A number of companies now offer financing for plastic surgery.
- Medical advances have lead to faster recovery times.
- There has been an increase in “easier” minimally invasive procedures being performed
- The older view that only “rich white people” can afford plastic surgery is gone. People of all backgrounds now undergo cosmetic procedures on a regular basis.
Combine all of the above and you get a healthy cosmetic beauty industry!
