Microdermabrasion is a no-recovery, spa-type treatment that effectively exfoliates the skin. One treatment makes skin feel smoother and makes makeup go on more smoothly; several treatment over the span of a few weeks can begin to improve the finest of wrinkles and allow you daily skin care products to be absorbed more quickly. Most women enjoy the treatment istself, and find it relaxing.

By contrast, dermabrasion is a surgical procedure that wears away the outer layers of skin, and treats wrinkles, sun damage, and acne scarring much more effectively in one treatment than even a series of several hundred microdermabrasions would ever accomplish. It does, however, require anesthesia and at least 10 days to 2 weeks of recovery before you can wear camouflage makeup.
